Preparation before the surgery

1. Congenital diseases
The prohibited diseases are those that involve blood coagulation, such as prolonged bleeding. Other diseases, such as pressure, diabetes, or thyroid can have the surgery, but the diseases must be controlled to normal condition first. You should not have the surgery while being sick or having an infection around the skin that needs the surgery.

2. Medication
If taking medicine in a group of aspirin or painkiller, such as Ibuprofen, Diclofenac, hormones, vitamin, collagen, or herbs, abstain for 1 week before the surgery. The medicine for high blood pressure and diabetes can be taken normally. Do not stop the medicine. If taking anticoagulants, such as warfarin, always consult the doctor who prescribed the medicine.

3. Food
If it is the surgery with a local anesthetic, there is no need to abstain from food and drink. You can have food and drink normally in an adequate quantity. If the surgery needs inhaled anesthetic or injected anesthetic, abstain from food and drink at least 6-8 hours before the surgery.

4. Self-care and others
Abstain from smoking at least 2 weeks before and after the facial cosmetic surgery. If possible, wash your hair at night before the cosmetic surgery or in the morning. Do not wear make-up on the day of consultation or appointment date to do the cosmetic surgery.

Self-care after the surgery

1. Surgery wound treatment
There will be tiny thread at the surgery wound, which can be taken off in 5-7 days according to the appointment. In case it is an absorbable suture, it will absorb by itself within 1-2 months. Patients can wash their faces as normal. Do not allow the wound to touch with water because there is the risk of infection around the surgery wound. If it touches water, dab it dry.

In taking care of the wound, coat the cotton stick with saline and clean the wound and the nearby area to eliminate the stain. Apply the disinfectant ointment to moisture the wound 2 times day, in the morning-evening after taking a shower.

2. Swelling and bruises
In the first 48 hours after the surgery, rest and have a cold compression by using ice or cold pack to compress around the surgery wound as frequently as you wish to reduce the swelling and bleeding. Use a thin cloth, such as a handkerchief, to place on the wound first. No need to put the compress while sleeping.

After 48 hours, alternate between warm and cold compress. Compress for 2 weeks after the surgery or depending on the swelling. The swelling and bruises often happen during the first 2-3 days, which is normal after the surgery. The swelling will slowly flatten by 70-80% in 1 week and complete flatten in 1-2 months.

3. Activity
Able to do your daily activities as normal. Avoid shock around the surgery area. Abstain from lifting heavy objects in the first 2-3 days. Able to do light exercises, such as jogging and yoga, in 1 week after the surgery. Do not do heavy exercises for about 2 weeks.

You can have food as normal. It is suggested to have a soft diet at first to prevent shock. Avoid preserved food, alcohol, and smoking since they affect wound healing.

4. Scar
At first, there will be a tiny wound line and some reddening. Later, it will slowly reduce and be back to normal. At first, you might feel stiff and hard since there is an adjustment of the tissue around the wound, which will slowly soften as time goes by. Avoid being in bright sunlight. Irritation around the wound will disturb the healing of the surgery wound.
